Every time I try and run iTLU I get a “connection to ITunes failed” error – I have installed and reinstalled the latest iTunes (v7.0.2.16) but nothing seems to work. Is iTLU1 now incompatible with the latest iTunes?

I am getting a failed to connect to iTunes. I am using iTunes 7.0.2.16 and iTLU 1.23. If I run ITLU more than twice the computer BSOD’s.
Thanks.

So when is this going to be finished?

This is a great application! Thank you!
Just one small request. Could you add a horizontal scroll bar to the locations listbox? That way we can see what file paths are in the listbox. Thanks.

Looks like a great tool. If I could make a suggestion for a future version? there really must be a way to clean up duplicates in my music library. For some reason I have thousands of tracks listed twice in my library. These are files listed in my library that point to the same file. I really dont want to have to go through a manually remove the duplicates. Any chance of this coming to life?

Great tool! But when installing on Vista it needs some admin privs and when you enter username/password it puts it in the wrong context and doesn’t update the right users itunes library. Will there be a Vista-compatible version?

Is iTLU dead? Would be a shame

Running on Vista the process is asking fr process elevation. The only reason I can guess at in the file traces is that it’s trying to access the Windows and System32 folders to do something with them.
Is it trying to write a file, if so, which one – I may be able to seed it and allow access. I’d rather not give administrator privs to everyone just to be able to update their libraries.

Is iTLU still alive? There haven’t been any updates, news, or postings of any kind in well over 6 months.

under Vista browse to the folder where itlu is installed, right-click on itluGui.exe -> Run as Administrator, say OK to UNC and itlu is able to communicate /w Itunes.
Like to have an Update (or even itlu2) onthe only useable Tool for Lib-Management on Windows, though

That’s a great idea, but if you aren’t an administrator (like if you have a separate administrator account) then it will switch to the administrator account and run itunes in that context. The itunes database isn’t the same for that account and so it won’t update your database.

The “browse” button (it needs an icon at least) to add a new location don’t show the “documents” folders and the local network (winxp sp2).
Despite that entries are update succesfully even through network paths (added manually).
A good work overall. I was looking for something like that since ages. Thanks.

Vista workaround for process elevation, please note that this will elevate privileges for all programs launched not just ITLU, so once you have updated, log off then log back on again to restore standard access controls.
1. Close all programs
2. Open a command prompt with administrator privileges (Start, all programs, accessories, right click on command prompt, click “Run as administratorâ€
3. Start task manager and kill the “explorer.exe†process
4. From the command prompt (which will still be open) type explorer and press the enter key
5. Windows Explorer is now running with full admin privileges and any program launched will also inherit these permissions
6. Run ITLU
7. Log off windows and then log back on to restore normal privileges

Something to add to the “About” page: runs on Windows.
