iTLU 7 again (update (yeah, again again))

September 20, 2006 on 6:13 pm | In News | 46 Comments

I've got again some reports that iTLU does not work with iTunes 7. I might be a language problem, because a lot of others have no issues at all. Can you post your iTunes language if iTLU doesn't work for you? Thanks.

I've created a new build (1.23) that is linked against the new iTunes type library. If you have problems with iTunes 7 can you please try the following build and give me feedback?

Thanks!

  6. Hi

Installation of iTLU works fine however when I try to execute the iTLU (GUI) file I get an error:

    *************************************************
iTLUgui.exe – Common Language Runtime Debugging Service.

    Process id=0×984, Thread id=0×834 (2100)

Clik OK to terminate the application
Click CANCEL to debug the application
    *************************************************

I have just upgraded to iTunes 7 and downloaded iTLU build 1.23 but the error still occurs. I’m running iTunes in English.

Hope You can find a fix cause this is really a killer app which I can’t live without…:-)

    Regards

    /Frank

  7. I still have the same problem with the new build:

One of the main reasons I prefer Windows Media Player to iTunes is that WMP monitors folders and automatically…

  9. Hi,

I get the following message with iTunes 7, german:

i Looking for iTunes XML database
F Couldn’t find iTunes XML database
    F Cleaning will be disabled

The rest seems to work. Any hints? I have also tried it with iTLU 1.23

  10. I think I repaired my setup. I reinstalled Itunes completly, and now, for no reason at all, it seems to be working.

  11. Thanks for the great tool, this allows my wife and I to share the same library.

I’m using iTLU 1.23 with iTunes 7. It appears to work well except for song/artist names that have non-english characters in them (e.g. í, ú, á, and °) have all produced duplicate song entries in the database.

  12. Just installed the latest build 1.2.3.0 .. I get “Connection to iTunes failed … Try to reinstall the latest iTunes”.

I have just intalled today the latest version of iTunes… 7.0.0.70

  13. It would also be nice if it was able to add video files along with mp3 files. thanks

    Comment by Ron — Wednesday, 4. October 2006 #

  14. You already can: just add the video file extensions you need.

  15. And the adding/syncing of playlists?

    Comment by Ron — Thursday, 5. October 2006 #

  16. I keep getting the error “attempted to read or write protected memory”. Could you have the next version give information about the problem address? Thanks!

  17. I installed the original iTLU, and it works fine with my Itunes 7.0. The problem is, any new files in my music folder are added to the Itunes library, but deleted files are stilling showing up as (!). I thought that they should be removed automactically by the Updater? Or is there something that I’m not doing right…?

    Comment by Christina — Saturday, 7. October 2006 #

  18. Yes, that should indeed be the case if you active the cleaning mode.

  19. any updates yet (m3u)? :)

    Comment by Ron — Friday, 13. October 2006 #

  20. Hey,
can you please update the sourceforge site about requests and what you will implement with which priority?

I’d like to have a log too see what has been added to the library.
    Thx!

  21. Suggestion: [if not already made...]

When ITLU is updating, show a status or progress bar across the bottom of the form so that the user will have an idea of how much longer the program should take to finish.

  22. I get the same error with 1.23 as reported by by JoeLamothe on Thursday, 21. September 2006. Is there a fix available for this. It started to happen with me after I updated to iTunes 7.02. It used to work fine before then.

Comment by Abhishek Ghuwalewala — Tuesday, 19. December 2006 #

  23. Everytime when I run ITLU v1.23 on iTune v7.0.2, it crashes my PC and turns it off completely. The last bit ITLU was running was showing the stage of parsing the song data. I am using English XP Pro SP2, and English iTune. I have songs with Chinese and Japanese filenames and in the mp3 tags.

Is it a problem? Should I avoid updating the songs with other unicode characters?

    Any suggestions are welcomed.

  24. I have my itunes music folder and library files stored on network attached storage and normally navigate to this via My Network Places. However, when trying to browse in music folder with ITLU I can\’t see any My Network Places. Is this to be expected?

    Comment by Clive — Thursday, 21. December 2006 #

  25. In response to Clive: map a drive letter to the network location. It will make it easier to find in iTLU and normally.

    Now for the bug report…

I get that every time I run iTLU. Using v1.2.3 of iTLU, 7.0.2 of iTunes, and XP SP2. All are English versions.

  29. When I run iTLU it adds music to my library like as if I was using the Add Folder option in iTunes ( no play count ratings etc, which is why I don’t wan to use that feature). I was hoping this program it would update my broken links instead.

Am I doing something wrong? I have read the instruction guide and I can’t seem to find an option that says “update broken links” or something.

  30. Sorry, does not work with my new install of iTunes (EngAmerican) 7.3.1. Loads so far and states iTunes interace Failed! Cannot find iTunes. reinstall latest version.
Using this in Vista worked great in XP.

Comment by Doug Cooley — Saturday, 14. July 2007 #

  31. Sorry again. The ITLU needs to be left to run before the iTunes and needs to open iTunes itself. When this happens there is no problem.

  32. After upgrading to iTunes 7.3.1.3 I started getting this rror in iTLU:

  35. I’m using iTunes Library Updater on a Windows 2000 machine, english language version of the OS and software, and I have one odd recurring problem. The updater treats a handful of songs as new every time the program is run. I haven’t changed the file names, directory names, or moved anything around, but at the tail end of processing the same 7 or so files are listed as “added tracks.” Not a huge deal, I just wanted to pass the info along.

  36. I had problems with the last build, but whatever you’ve changed here fixes it for me. works great now! thanks for this awesome application.

(for reference, I was getting a “Cannot load iTunes interface” error with the last build.)

  37. Hi

I think I’ve found the problem – iTLU works for me (7.4.3 on Vista Ultimate), but ONLY when I run iTLU without iTunes open.

If I run it with iTunes open, then it doesn’t work – it fails to connect to the iTunes interface.

Is this the case for others as well?

same : if iTunes is open when I launch the update it fails to connect, if it is close, iTLU opens it and it seems it works fine (processing now…)

    Thanks for the soft !

  39. Seems ITL GGUI is no longer working if you have installe ITunes Version 7.6.1.9. I’m unable to run it since I updated to a newer ITunes version. Anyone lese with this experience. I will see if I can restore my computer to the previous ITunes version.

  40. I’m running version 1.23… it appears to be working with itunes 7.6.19, except when it comes to playlists.. it deletes all the songs from my already imported playlists.. i’m not sure why or how to get around this..

basically.. every time i run the sync.. i have to reimport all of my 20 playlists via itunes, which is painful…

    Comment by markm75 — Tuesday, 18. March 2008 #

  41. iTunes 7.6.1.9 appears to contain null for IITFileOrCDTrack.Location – which is necessary for iTLU 7.

    Comment by J — Wednesday, 21. May 2008 #

  42. If you have your volume muted when starting itunes it will always fail to connect. You must unmute iTunes and retry for it to work.

    my email is the_only_walks@hotmail.com

I have searched far and wide and I cannot find anything that is similar to this.

I currently am running Windows XP Pro and iTunes 8.0.1.11)
