iTLU and iTunes 7.6+
October 22, 2008 on 12:43 am | In News | 48 Comments
A user reported that iTLU might works again after re-registering the iTunes COM component. You can do that by starting iTunes with an additional argument once:
iTunes.exe /regserver
I haven’t tested it, as I neither use iTunes nor Windows anymore, but I guess it is worth a try
Thanks to Amarinder for pointing this out!
Site outage und other stuff
October 29, 2007 on 9:56 pm | In News | 10 CommentsDear iTLU users,
you probably noticed the download problems in the last few weeks and the 24h outage of the site yesterday. The cause of these problems was my hosting provider, who locked me out of some directories and told me, that I’m using to many ressources on their systems. I was kind of surprised, as iTLU does not generate much more than 5000 hits per day, which is not was I’d call "excessive usage". My hoster provided very good services in the past, so I’m not sure what happened there. As a conclusion, I don’t know how long I may continue to run this website, as I’m not willed to pay high hosting fees for an old hobby project. Maybe I’ll put a donate button on the page, as some of you already offered donations for the tool. But I’ll only do that, if I don’t find another solution.
So, what’s up with iTLU at the moment? I’ve never really finished iTLU2, because I don’t use it myself anymore. I’m not sure if i’ll ever continue, sorry
On the other hand, a friend of mine and I started with a technical prototype for an iTunes sync application that runs on both Windows and Mac. It may last as a proof of concept, but it might also be a successor of iTLU, who knows!
There are some issues in iTLU1, so I might release a new build somewhen. The main two problems are:
- iTunes events are lost under Windows Vista. To resolve this issue, you have to disable User Account Control.
- iTLU crashes if you try to sync media files that iTunes does not support. To resolve this issue, only add extensions that can be added to iTunes without conversion (like .mp3 work, but .wav does not).
This is it, sorry again for the outage!

Bug reports of iTLU1
October 20, 2006 on 1:36 pm | In News | 24 CommentsPlease do not post bug reports of iTLU1 on the SF project page.
The sourceforge project page is only for the (hopefully) upcoming iTLU2.
iTLU 7 again (update (yeah, again again))
September 20, 2006 on 6:13 pm | In News | 46 CommentsI've got again some reports that iTLU does not work with iTunes 7. I might be a language problem, because a lot of others have no issues at all. Can you post your iTunes language if iTLU doesn't work for you? Thanks.
I've created a new build (1.23) that is linked against the new iTunes type library. If you have problems with iTunes 7 can you please try the following build and give me feedback?

Thanks!
iTunes 7 (update)
September 14, 2006 on 4:44 pm | In News | 21 CommentsIt seems that iTLU (1) doesn't work with the latest version of iTunes. I'll look into it and publish an update if possible.
Update: I quickly tested iTLU with iTunes 7 and it seems to work for me. If you do have issues please mail me a detailed problem description.
As for iTLU2: I currently have exams again, so I cannot continue at the moment. Be patient or join as dev!
100′000 hits reached
July 31, 2006 on 4:30 pm | In News | Comments OffToday, http://itlu.ownz.ch has reached 100′000 hits! Over 65′000 visitors and over 30′000 downloads within one year is probably a reason to boost iTLU2 even more.
Thanks!
iTLU2 on sourceforge.net
July 28, 2006 on 5:55 pm | In News | 3 CommentsThe project’s been opened on SF: http://sourceforge.net/projects/itlu2
Marco, who previously created the iTLU logo and contributed some code snippets, has joined the project! If you want to follow suit, I’m looking for
- C# developers with very good OO knowledge
- Graphics artists: Icons, Logos, GUI design
that are willing to contribute to iTLU2. Please email me!
iTunes Library Updater 2.0
July 26, 2006 on 8:54 pm | In News | 45 CommentsOk, it’s been quiet for some time now. But I’ve started working on iTLU2 (again) this week. I’ll post the sourceforge.net link as soon as the project has been reviewed by the SF staff. If someone is interested in helping me out (C# developers or graphics artist), please mail me!
By the way, thanks for your feedback. I’ll take all feature suggestions that’ve been emailed to me into consideration.
